Paul Dixon has taught in six UK HMC independent schools in turn, for a period of more than 35 years, including boarding and day, single sex and coeducational schools, culminating in two headships.  Paul began his career as a biology teacher at Winchester College, moving on to Brighton College, St Dunstan’s College, Stockport Grammar School, and then Reigate Grammar School where he was Head from 1996-2001.

He has served as a governor in three schools, one maintained and two independent, and on two HMC subcommittees.  He is currently secretary and Chairman-elect of the North West HMC region and a member of the main HMC Committee.

Paul is a member of IDPE, a Trustee of CASE (Europe) and a regular speaker at their conferences.  In 2007 he was awarded a scholarship by HMC and the English-Speaking Union to travel in the South West USA and study development in fifteen American schools.

He is currently Head of Cheadle Hulme School near Manchester, one of the largest HMC schools with a teaching staff of more than one hundred.  Paul has significant experience in working with independent school Governors on long range strategic planning, and in the selection, appointment and induction of senior staff.
