Staff and Volunteer Training |
|
|
Only a small percentage of institutions have full time development staff dedicated to creating gift support. The role of "Development Director" is still a relatively new one, so there is some misunderstanding among teaching staff and institutional leadership on the crucial importance of this role. There are very few seasoned professionals to serve in a mentor capacity. As a result, volunteers are also inexperienced, as they have not had the opportunity to work with Development professionals who could coach them.
All of the consultants of ASK Associates have been full-time directors
of development in schools and/or colleges and universities, so we
understand the complex nature of the job and the many responsibilities
and skills that such a function requires. Providing a Director of
Development has a good grasp of the nature of his/her institution, the
willingness to learn and the capacity for hard work, he or she can
benefit from the guidance and training that ASK Associates can provide.
Specifically, we can:
-
Assess the existing programme and recommend strategies for increasing fundraising revenue;
-
Provide training in development planning;
-
Help you be more effective in your communications with alumni;
-
Provide solicitation training;
-
Guide institutional leadership who speak before constituents;
-
Create job descriptions for staff and volunteer leaders;
-
Help motivate institutional leadership regarding their continuing role in development.
